Fine arts

According to historians, fine arts was limited to painting, sculpture, architecture and the methods of printing. However, in today’s context, fine arts have become more elaborate and includes performing arts, painting, sculpture, several styles of writing art, music, dance, theatrical performances, architecture, photo installation and the art of printing.

Definition

According to one opinion, arts, such as painting, sculpture, drawings, water colour paintings, printing art were considered to portray beauty and display concrete reasons and facts. In the context of art, the work, style of art and the subject portrayed are given equal importance. Not breaking the rules of work and style is what makes art so beautiful, anda painting will never be a painting but a craft or an application of art, such as applying designs on a piece of cloth. Though art in today’s context is more sensitive, accurate and meaningful, and media has helped spread the unique aspects of art to make its special presence felt in the hearts of connoisseurs. Media, to a great extent, has helped in identifying an increasing number of art lovers, who have shown a genuine interest encouraging artists.

Fine art has taken a new connotation and is now used to describe the finesse with which one executes his work in everyday life, such as describing the efficiency of Dhyan Chand, the Hockey Wizard or Pele, the greatest player to grace football. It is as if these two great personalities have brought a level of finesse in their games that what they do is considered as fine art.

Fine art is very different from commercial art, because in the early days of modern art, society believed that only the contemporary needs and interests of the society need to be highlighted, which was the only context of art. On the other hand, thinkers and artists did not set norms for art for they believed in the subject and beauty associated with art forms.

Thus, music, dance and drama were mistakenly considered fine art, which happens to be the paradox of fine art. Fine art not only includes traditional art but also illustrations, artless art and the art of writing.

Illustration is a medium for expressing thoughts, such as images in magazines, artistic pictures, satire and others. We know them as two-dimensional pictures and include many dimensions of art, including painting and drawing.

Cartoon, a form of two-dimensional drawing, doodling, glass painting, depiction of surrealistic “antopicgraphomania” consisting of dots to draw a picture on an empty sheet of paperare all considered drawings. Though, pictures created by using points is not a popular art form, one cannot deny the use of lines to draw these pictures.

Comics

Mural Painting/Mosaic

Mosaic or mural painting consist of glass pieces, small stones and other materials glued to a wall. Some of the most famous artists of this genre include Marcelo de Mello from Brazil and Emma Biggs from England.

Art of printing

In this art from, an artist carves the art on any metal plate and uses a mixture of colors to imprint the art on a sheet of paper using machines or hands. Every print is considered to be the original work of the artist and using this printing method, the artist can reproduce as many prints of the original as possible. Since there is little chance of reproduction of the first impression, all prints are considered to be original. This method employs a metal on which lines are drawn and scrapped and was pioneered by great artists like Mr. Dyurer in 1514.

Sculpture

Sculpture is a three-dimensional visual art that uses stone, wood, plastic or any other solid substance that can be given a shape. In this art form, various materials can be mixed, melted in fire and added to a mold to create a sculpture. In this context, Michael Angelo is considered to be one of the greatest sculptors of the world. Without our knowledge, we use sculptures in our day-to-day life, such as a sculpture in the garden, bushes cut in the shape of animals or any other three-dimensional figure obtained from wooden molds.

Symbolic Art

Symbolic art is a form of art in which the artist gives a sculpture the look and feel of a person portrayed through his ideas. Taking a traditional art subject, the artist presents the subject with his or her own message and personal touch. One such famous artist is Turner Prize, who, in 1990 christened this form of art, the Modern Art, because it does not follow the rules of traditional art or sculpture for depicting the ideas.

Dance

Dance is form of language and expression formed by combining body rhythm and music. Body rhythm and music are important aspects of dance, not only during ancient times but also in today’s world, for dance is considered the best and the most powerful medium to convey both the language and expression correctly. Dance is the medium of expressing social and spiritual language and is a complete art form in itself through which man can exchange sentiments with animals and birds. Dance, like music, is different based on the time and place. The dance forms, music and style employed in Ice skating, gymnastics, swimming are unique and different. On the other hand, martial arts are always associated with one form of dance.

Drama

The modern Western Drama is a style of drama which includes satirical plays and plain drama. Another form play associated with theatre is musical drama. Whether it is the classical Greek and Roman Drama, Daneepbansjimanjamamadam, or Shakespeare’s, or Marlow’s or the plays of Moliere, along with “Joe” and “Kabuki” are all examples of pre-modern drama, which is less acceptable to the west.
